The Google Business Site Hammer Falls

 


If you operate a Google Business website, then you have likely already gotten this message from Google.


"Websites made with Google Business Profiles are basic websites powered by the information on your Business Profile. In March 2024, websites made with Google Business Profiles will be turned off and customers visiting your site will be redirected to your Business Profile instead. The redirect will work until June 10, 2024."


This is a bummer. A whole lot of local businesses are going to be scrambling for another option.


Were "bad actors" abusing these sites? No doubt. But there are countless hapless SMBs who will now be without a web presence because of this decision.


I was using a Google Business site for WebBoss due to its ease of update and operation. I'll be shifting to a Google Site with a Blogger blog for the posts and migrating/mirroring all updates there.
